And this is how it works
We will inform you about new advertising campaigns in your region via the app and e-mails. You can decide for yourself which campaign you would like to take part in.
For your first campaign, we will mount a personalised advertising box on your luggage rack.
Complete your daily cycling route, park your bike at frequented locations and earn money and loyalty points for your efforts. During active participation in promotional campaigns, as well as when there is no opportunity to participate in a campaign, various additional rewards await you. It is therefore worthwhile to cover many kilometres, to be on the road on many days, to put your bike in the limelight at well-known and frequented locations and to send us impressions.

- Weekly remuneration for active campaigns of up to CHF 20.00
- High-quality advertising box with plenty of storage space
- Free app for tracking your rides

FAQ
In which cities is Working Bicycle currently active?
We are currently present in Basel, Zurich, Bern, Lucerne, Winterthur, Aarau, St. Gallen, Geneva, Lausanne, Fribourg, Biel, Solothurn, Olten, Thun, Baden, Brugg, Chur, Zug, Lugano, Rapperswil-Jona, Sion, Wil, Liestal, Neuchâtel, Yverdon-les-Bains, Shaffhouse, Uster, Frauenfeld, Bellinzona and Rheinfelden.
Who can participate at Working Bicycle?
To take part in Working Bicycle, you must be at least 16 years old and have a bicycle with a rack (mounted on the back). You must have your residence in Switzerland or at least a valid Swiss address, to which we can send the advertising foils. Unfortunately, shipping outside of Switzerland is not possible for cost reasons. In addition, you must regularly bike in one of our active cities. Participation is only possible if you are riding your bike in the cities themselves (not in the surrounding regions).
How do I find out about new campaigns in my city?
We will inform you about new advertising campaigns in your city via the app and/or by email. Activate the push notifications for this. You can find the campaigns in the app under "Campaigns" -> "Future campaigns". If no campaign is displayed, this means that there is currently no campaign relevant to you and you need to be patient.
Can I decide for myself who I want to advertise for?
Yes. As a rider you are completely free to decide which campaign you want to participate in.
How often and how many kilometres per week do I have to cycle to be able to participate at Working Bicycle?
At least three different days per week and at least ten kilometers per week. The requirements of one week cannot be compensated with another week. Please note: A campaign week lasts 7 days. If a campaign runs for less or more than 7 days, the requirements and remuneration will be adjusted on a percentage basis.
Will my trips be recorded / evaluated?
Your kilometers driven are recorded with our app and forwarded to the advertisers at the end of the campaign. Thus, we are also transparent and fair to advertisers. The journeys of an individual driver are not passed on.
What happens if I drive less than the minimal requirements?
The shortfall will be deducted from the salary on a percentage basis. If the minimum requirements are not met several times, we reserve the right to reclaim the Working Bicycle Box. Further participation in campaigns is then no longer possible.
Please contact us in advance if you are unable to meet the minimum requirements (e.g. due to accident, illness, etc.).
Do I need a luggage rack?
Yes, a luggage rack is required to participate in a campaign. This must be mounted on the rear.
If you have a special rack, send us a photo by mail to be sure. If you have an e-bike and the battery is under the luggage rack, please also send us a photo by mail in advance.
How do I receive my advertising box?
We will inform you via mail and/or via the push notifications in the app about new assembly time slots. Please keep in mind that we offer collective assembly days and therefore limited places are available. Usually these take place on Saturday in your region.
If you have any questions or would like to be added to the waiting list, you can contact us at any time (via the contact form or [email protected])
What is the further procedure after my first campaign?
After your first campaign, the advertising box remains on your rack. From this point on you will receive the advertising films by mail in due time and are responsible for the change yourself - see question „How can I change the advertising films?“
How can I change the advertising films?
To make it easier for you to change the advertising films, we have created a video which you can watch in the „Video instructions“ section of the Working Bicycle App.
Can I send a third person as a replacement on the day of assembly?
In principle, this is not possible without written consent from Working Bicycle. Since we communicate important information during the initial assembly, it is important that you come in person.
Do I have to pay anything for the advertising box?
A cost contribution of CHF 40 + CHF 20 deposit for the use of the Working Bicycle Box will be automatically deducted from your compensation when you first participate in campaigns.
The value of the box is a multiple of the CHF 60. The advertising box remains the property of Working Bicycle AG.
Will I receive compensation even if I am not actively traveling for any campaign?
No, you will only receive compensation from our advertisers if you are actively promoting a campaign. Through your contribution you enable Working Bicycle to launch many new advertising campaigns.
However, we are currently working on a loyalty system that will allow you to collect points without an active campaign and redeem them for certain extras and goodies in the future. More information on this will follow.
What should I do if I no longer want to participate at Working Bicycle campaigns?
If you do not want to be on the road for any more campaigns, please contact us. You can reach us via the contact form in the app, email ([email protected]) or by phone.
What happens if the advertising box is stolen or damaged unintentionally?
Please inform us immediately via the contact form in the app or send us an email to [email protected].
Important: in the event of damage to a box, pictures of each side of the advertising box must always be sent so that we can accurately assess the damage.
When will I receive my payment?
The payout will be made approximately two weeks after the end of the campaign to a Swiss bank or postal account. You will be informed via mail and push message.
What do I do if I only have a foreign bank account?
Unfortunately, participation is only possible with a Swiss bank or postal account.
Can I be active in multiple cities at the same time for Working Bicycle?
No, for fairness reasons only one profile respectively one advertising box per person is allowed. Therefore, only one region per profile can be selected.
What happens if I do not show up on a registered assembly date?
Since we count on the registered drivers and also vouch for you with the advertising company, we always have a lot of trouble finding a spontaneous replacement. For this reason we have to charge in such a case a fee of CHF 15 for the non-appearance at an assembly.
From when until when does a campaign week last?
A campaign week usually lasts from Saturday 00:01 to Friday 23:59. Please have a look at the key data of the campaign in the mails / in the app.
What happens to the advertising films when the campaign is over?
Until your next campaign, you can either leave the advertising films inserted or remove them and continue with our base sticker. Should an advertiser wish to remove the advertising films at the end of the campaign, you will be informed by us. Important: Do not throw away your advertising films, but collect them. Once a year (in november) we will contact you to send the advertising foils you collected to our recycling partner, so they will be recycled correctly.
Do I have to pay for spare parts?
In most cases, the first spare part is free of charge.
From the second spare part onwards, we charge a small contribution to the costs (deducted directly from the campaign payment).
Here is an overview of the cost sharing:
1) Lid tensioners & gas springs
- CHF 10.- (incl. shipping costs)
- 1st spare part free of charge
2) Entire lid

- The cost of the box (CHF 40.- + CHF 20 deposit) remains unchanged
6) Reorder advertising films (Only if change of address or similar was announced too late)
- CHF 8.- (incl. shipping costs)
7) Service at our service centres
- CHF 12.- (incl. spare part)
- 1st service free of charge
Are there extra rewards in active campaigns in addition to the regular remuneration?
Yes, in addition to the regular remuneration, there are 3 different ways to receive a reward and thus an extra payment in active campaigns. If you are interested in how to get such a reward, then take a look at the next 3 questions.
How do I qualify for Reward 1?
The top 5% of riders in a campaign receive this reward! To qualify, you must cycle at least 5 km on at least 5 different days per campaign week (note that for your kilometres to count towards the reward, the majority of your rides must be in city centres). The requirements must be completed each week and cannot be compensated with other campaign weeks. Finally, the reward is distributed to the 5% who have ridden the most days and the most kilometres. The reward allows you to earn an extra CHF 20 for the respective campaign. This reward can only be awarded for campaigns of 10 people or more.
How do I qualify for reward 2?
To qualify for reward 2, at least 3 of your photos (uploaded in the app under the campaign) must be rated with 5 stars. Three riders can receive this reward per campaign and the winners will be selected at random. The reward allows you to earn an extra CHF 20 for the respective campaign. Please note: In order for the photos to be considered for the reward, they must be uploaded to the app no later than 16:00 on the last day of the campaign.
How do I qualify for reward 3?
The reward 3 is only available in certain campaigns and we will inform you before the start of each campaign if this reward will be available in your next active campaign. This reward relates to so-called "focus points" (places that are very relevant to us and our advertising clients). You can qualify for reward 3 by parking your bike within a focus point for a certain amount of time. Where this point is located and how much extra you can earn through this reward varies per campaign and will be communicated by us in each case. You can also find the information in the app under the campaign in the "Focus points" tab or during tracking. If there are any changes to the focus point or if new focus points are added during the campaign, we will inform you via push notification.
How do I earn loyalty points and what can I do with them?
Loyalty points are awarded during tracking on active campaigns and by recording "free rides". There are three different ways in which loyalty points can be collected:
1) If you track at least 5km per day, you will receive 10 points per day
2) If you park your bike for a certain period of time within a "zone of interest", you will receive up to 100 points per day
3) If you cover a defined number of metres within a "zone of interest", you will also receive up to 100 points per day.
Please note: Versions 2 & 3 are only active in a few regions and are still in the test phase. You can find out whether there are active "interest zones" in your region and all information about the zones in the app under the "Interest zones" tab or when tracking journeys. The loyalty points can be redeemed for certain extras and goodies by clicking in the app (in the "Loyalty program" tab). Please note: Redeeming points is also still in the test phase and is therefore only active in a few regions.
What's with the ranks and status?
The rank and status is updated once a week (on Sundays) and is based on the loyalty points collected over the last four weeks. More information on this will follow as soon as the entire loyalty programme has been worked out.
How does the tracking work on the app for an active campaign?
Open the Working Bicycle app and either click on the red QR code button in the middle or go to the "Tracking" menu and select "Scan and ride". Then you can scan the QR code on the lid of the box. Start the ride by moving the "green slider" to the right. At the end of the ride you have to pull the "red slider" to the left. Then scan the QR code again and save the ride in the separate menu.
Please make sure that you do this process also during short interruptions (shopping, short visit to friends, etc.). Otherwise, your route may not be recorded correctly.
Do I need a permanent internet connection to use the app?
No, since the versions 2.2.0 on iOS and Android only a periodic internet connection is necessary for data updates (uploading driven routes, new campaigns, new QR codes, etc.).
The error message "No internet connection" can be overridden or ignored.
Also note that when updating the data (with a good internet connection), briefly close the app (in the task manager) or press the corresponding "Sync button" in the app.
My device does not record my rides correctly. What do I do?
- Select the option „ALWAYS“ within the location rights, not just „when using the App”.
- Turn off energy saving mode, for certain Android versions tur off energy optimization. Take also a look at the videos in the app.
- Give the app a few seconds to locate your GPS position before you start driving. If you have any further problems, please contact us.
Why don’t I receive any push notifications when new campaigns are online for registration?
Once you log out of the app, you will no longer receive notifications. Just log back in and enable notifications for the app.
Also note that not all campaigns are announced via push notifications and that you will only receive campaigns that are relevant to you.
Why do I have to photograph all the sides after changing the advertising foils?
This way we can make sure that you have received the correct advertising foils by mail and that they are advertised correctly.
What if I can't photograph or upload the slides on the day the campaign starts?
Please contact us immediately. Otherwise, you will not be able to record the routes you have taken and will not receive any compensation.
Why am I asked to upload photos after the trip?
If you upload pictures of your bike with the box, you will help us a lot! We will use these photos to show our advertisers impressions of the campaign. The best photos for this purpose are those taken in well-known places with lots of people in the background. With your photos you help us to convince many more companies of Working Bicycle and thereby also to launch new campaigns.
How do I track "free journeys" and why should I do this?
If you are not registered in an active campaign, you can track "free trips" so that you can collect loyalty points. These points can then be redeemed for certain extras and goodies (for more information, see point 31 in the FAQs "For cyclists"). You can track "Free trips" by selecting the "Start trip" option under the "Tracking" tab and then moving the "green slider" to the right. No QR code is required for free trips. At the end of the journey, drag the "red slider" to the left.
Why do I have to upload verification pictures even though I am not registered in an active campaign, but only record "free rides"?
From time to time you will also be asked for verification pictures during the "Free rides" so that we can make sure that the advertising box is securely mounted on your carrier and in good condition. You can skip uploading verification images twice. After that, rides can only be recorded again once the images have been uploaded to the app.
